first day of working from home

My work is great. As an academic I get the luxury of working on data that can be done anywhere at any time. So I get to do it at home today. While my husband and baby hang out in the other rooms, I pretend not to listen and analyse and think. Or do I? So far I've analysed some data, emailed, searched mumsnet and facebooked, cooked a quiche, and changed a nappy or two. Waiting for the in-laws now so I can have an excuse for a cup of tea. Will this work?

I'm slowly returning to work after a spell of maternity leave with my first baby. It's been good and difficult. My chosen field is too niche for its own good so I have 4 jobs to return to. This means I get to work a lot at night. Bet tonnes of mums do this too though, academia or not. I think I'm suffering from sair-eye-tis from late night screen squinting. My plan here is to enhance that problem with more squinting but also try and incorporate my two major lifetime activities, motherhood and research/teaching.
